I noticed when reading Exodus and Leviticus, that when God commanded things from people, such as actions like building a temple, giving up sacrifices for sin, or how to live in general, he required perfection. He wanted nothing but the best from His people in worship of Him.
All of these things were a shadow of things to come in pointing to Jesus.
Jesus is the perfect, temple, sabbath, sacrifice and example to live by.
We worship a Holy God without sin/without blemish. He has the highest of standards.
Animal sacrifices weren't about being some sort of cruel blood hungry authoritarian. It was showing how steep the wages of sin are, how much is expected of a Holy God. God knew the tears of those animals would be wiped away.
These were the laws of the land at the time, a sort of judicial system if you will. The priest were the judges.
Now days in our court system, we pay a fine instead of sacrificing a 1st born lamb without blemish.
When the judge gives us a fine for breaking a law and we pay it, we are still accountable to God for the sins we commit in breaking His laws.
Jesus paid our fine for sin for us.
We are now accountable to Him in that we are to earnestly repent, follow His teachings, and "Go and sin no more."
This tabernacle is one example of God commanding perfection towards Him. He instructed His people on how He wanted it build down to the colors of the threads used to weave the tapestries. The crafts people were desert wanderers living in tents.
This is truly something awesome to behold in context of all of that.
The beauty of this doesn't begin to measure up to anything that God has done for us though.
