In the late 1990s Lew White wrote some very disturbing books that claimed that our Christian traditions such as Christmas are rooted in pagan traditions. I read the books and believed him. So did many other people.
We were in error in that most of us didn't notice that he had no viable proof backing his claims. I challenge you to find original sources backing those claims. I would not recommend reading any of his books. Though he is a great entertaining writer, they are NOT based on fact.
Sure, History.com, Britania and others (who you would think have historical authority and knowledge on this subject) claim Christmas was "Likely" created on the date to coincide with existing pagan festivals, (without any proof of this claim). Remember these sources, try to tell us evolution is the truth also.
The Jewish people are known for keeping records on everything. Here is an article by Jews For Jesus telling where the Christmas date actually probably came from. jewsforjesus.org/learn/when-jesus-was-really-born
I wish I knew this years ago, when I quit celebrating Christmas for many years believing it was rooted in paganism.
Many things come from pagan traditions because paganism is historical, and traditions come from history. The wedding ring has pagan roots, but I doubt God is sending Christian to Hell on judgement day for wearing them.
It is easy to get caught up in feeling like we have some sort of superior knowledge that separates us from the naive underlings but beware of becoming like the judgmental pharisees that Jesus warned about. He called them vipers.
I regret and have repented of falling into that trap. I know my countenance was probably horrible at the time as I probably seemed judgmental and self-righteous when all I was trying to do is warn the masses against keeping evil traditions.
I now look back and see great error in my actions.
In a world full of satanic worship in which the most innocent suffer at the hands of those doing the most horrible satanic rituals possible, I'm sure that celebrating the King of Kings' birthday on a not so accurate date is NOT one of God's priorities in actions that He considers a sin.
Though it might not really be His birthdate, it is a day in which people all over the world, gather together out of love and celebrate and praise Jesus.
There is historical proof that God came in the flesh, as an infant born to a virgin, in a humble stable with a manger as a bed with shepherds and wisemen arriving to worship the King of Kings.
If we as Christians were carving golden idols in honor of Tamuz on this day, we would be doing pagan things, but we aren't. We are worshipping Jesus.
Humans are goofy. We add a bunch of goofy stuff too it, because we like to play and use our imaginations. We have Santa Clause which derived from Saint Nicholas (do your own research into who he was). Santa gives gifts to children. It's a make-believe game.
We aren't worshipping him. He's no different than the tooth fairy. The children are taught the real reason behind Christmas and told the truth about Santa when they get a little older. It's just a goofy game we play with the kids. Everyone has their opinions on whether this is good or bad, but it is done out of love.
We give gifts to our loved ones on Christmas out of love too.
I feel that the Satan would LOVE for Christians to quit celebrating Christmas. He probably hates the day in which people all over the world celebrate Jesus no matter if they are rich, poor, happy or sad. We joyously sing songs about our savior born to a manger. We spread love to those around us and on that one day in the year, we remember the day that our King was born, the savior of the world.
